About Belkacem Issad
Dr Belkacem Issad is a former nephrologist practitioner at the Pitié / Salpêtrière hospital, Sorbonne Paris 6 University, where he has been in charge of the Peritoneal Dialysis unit from 1982 to 2019 and of the out patient clinic from 2012 to 2019. Throughout his career, he has been particularly involved in the management of diabetic patients, in the elderly and in the evaluation of adequacy in peritoneal dialysis. He was a medical advisor for the training center of the AURA association from 1990 to 2019. He was also an expert on the dialysis committee of the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products from 1990 to 2010. During the last decade, he was particularly involved in the development of the program of the Seminars of University Nephrology (SUN) where he set up within the SUN (Hôpital la Pitié) several workshops and a PD day.exclusively devote dto Peritoneal dialysis and one-day home dialysis (DAD). Since his cessation of activity at the Pitié / Salpétrière hospital he remains very active in the field of home dialysis through his presentations at conferences and meetings and the organization of training sessions in home dialysis. He has been organizing the annually Paris PD Club meeting for several years then Home Dialysis club since 2019.
He is author and co-author of more than 200 publications in various national and international journals and of presentations in national and international congresses (ISPD, EDTA, SFNDT, RDPLF, SUN, Academy of Medicine).
He is a member of the RDPLF board. He is a member of the scientific council of the Biomedicine agency. He is a member of learned societies: RDPLF, SFNDT, ISPD, SUN.
