About Max Dratwa

Max Dratwa is retired Chief and currently Honorary Consultant in the division of Nephrology-Dialysis at the University hospitals Brugmann and Saint Pierre, Université Libre de Bruxelles, in Belgium.

He is retired Professor of Clinical Medicine and Vice-President of the post-graduate teaching program for Nephrology at the same university.

He is author or co-author of 108 papers with 63 invited lectures and 155 presentations at national and international meetings (the last one at the 17th Congress of the ISPD in Vancouver, Canada in May 2018).

Former member of the ISPD Educational Committee, he is member of 12 scientific societies and regularly invited reviewer for 4 international nephrology journals.

Max Dratwa launched his PD program (which has been the largest in the French Community of Belgium) in 1978 and is a founding and active member (presently its vice-president in charge of francophonia) of the Registre de Dialyse Péritonéale de Langue Française (RDPLF).

He is also a Faculty Member of the French-speaking Inter University program for PD in France/Belgium and of 3 PD Academies in Europe and Middle East which teach PD to young doctors and nurses.

He has been the President of the 5th EuRoPD Meeting held in Brussels in 2002  and was member of the ERA-EDTA experts group for the development of European best practice guidelines for peritoneal dialysis (NDT 2005).
