About Eric Goffin

Prof Eric Goffin is Full Professor of Medicine at UCLouvain, Brussels, Belgium and Head of the self-care dialysis unit at cliniques universitaires St-Luc, Brussels, which includes the patients’ pre-dialysis education program, the self-care satellite dialysis unit (Carpe Diem), and both the Peritoneal Dialysis and Home Hemodialysis programs. He completed his training in Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation at UCLouvain, Brussels and he was an exchange fellow for one year at the School of Clinical Medicine at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, University of Cambridge, UK.  In the Nephrology team, he is also currently co-responsible of the renal graft candidates’ evaluation and of the renal post-transplant outpatient clinic.

Throughout his career Prof Goffin authored over 175 scientific articles ; he has been an active member of scientific committees among which the French-speaking Nephrology Society, where he served as President of the Dialysis Committee. In the past decade, Prof Goffin actively participated in the organization of many conferences, lectures and congresses in which he had responsibilities as both key speaker and chairman, including the Selfcare Dialysis Symposium which is held every two years in Brussels. He also regularly serves as reviewer for major nephrology and dialysis scientific journals.

His main topics of research interest are in line with his clinical activities and include pre-dialysis information programs; patients reported outcomes, water and solute transport across the peritoneal membrane, clinical outcomes in Clinical TP, Home Hemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis patients, as well as the modalities of transition between the different renal replacement therapies.
