About Thierry Petitclerc
Thierry PETITCLERC is a graduate engineer from the Ecole Polytechnique de Paris (1972), holder of a doctorate in physical sciences (1985), and nephrologist since 1982.
He has been Professor of Biophysics at the Medical School of the Paris-6 University from 1989 to 2012, head of the hemodialysis unit of the Pitié-Salpétrière hospital group in Paris from 1988 to 2005, Medical Director of AURA- Paris (Non-profit association for the Use of the Artificial Kidney in the Paris region) from 2005 to 2015, then Medical advisor to the management of AURA-Paris from 2015 to 2021.
His observation and listening to dialysis patients made him a fervent advocate of home dialysis and sparked his strong involvement in the development of an original technology cycler for daily home hemodialysis (S3 monitor from Physidia company).
Thierry Petitclerc is the author or co-author of 71 publications referenced in PubMed. His field of interest mainly relates to the technological aspects of hemodialysis and his research activity has mainly consisted in the modeling of ion transfers through the membrane of the hemodialyzer.
He was recognized as an EDTA-ERA Distinguished Fellow in 2014. Thierry PETITCLERC is also co-author of a book on Biophysics (4 successive editions published by Lavoisier and one edition in Spanish) which is a reference in many French universities and in which he wrote all the parts concerning the "Milieu Interieur". He was the coordinator of the "extrarenal therapy" section of the "Traité de Néphrologie" (Lavoisier publisher 2017).
He was awarded the SFNDT Medal of Honor in 2017
