Author Guidelines

 Unless previously agreed with the publisher, articles must be submitted exclusively via the website of the journal. In the following lines, the name of Bulletin de la Dialyse à Domicile is shortened to “BDD”

 Format: Accepted text file formats are MS Word and Wordperfect. Do not submit pdf files.

Inclusive language

Inclusive writing is not accepted in texts submitted to the BDD: at present it is not consensual, spellcheckers are not adapted, and their form is not understood by all readers these days.

However, we recommend writing using inclusive language wherever possible.

Inclusive language recognizes diversity, shows respect for all people, is sensitive to differences and promotes equal opportunities. Content should not presume a reader's beliefs or commitments; it should contain nothing that suggests one person is superior to another because of age, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, disability or health status. Authors should ensure that their writing is free from prejudice, stereotypes, slang, references to the dominant culture and/or cultural assumptions.

An author is a person who personally wrote part or all of the text, and/or participated significantly in the recording and analysis of data for the submitted article, the person who suggested or coached the work, any person who has actively and personally participated in the design and production of the work. No one should be added for reasons other than personal involvement in the published work. Except in very special circumstances, it is recommended not to exceed

- Two authors for a review

- six authors for a case report

- ten authors for research articles

At the end of the articles, the role of each author must be explained, as well as the conflict of interest and financial support, if any, for the article.

Software based on artificial intelligence, known as Chatbots, such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, may not be used or cited as an author. Authors must be human beings and must take responsibility for their contributions. We draw your attention to the risk of plagiarism detection in the case of automatic editing by a Chatbot.

Disclosure form :

Any conflict of interest must be declared: a form is sent to all co-authors before publication so that they accept the publication and declare any conflict of interest. If it is not possible to contact a co-author, we ask the main author to send us the form signed by the co-author. If this cannot be obtained, we inform the main author that the name of this co-author cannot be maintained.

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS

The manuscripts are sent to the editor by the Internet platform as mentioned above.

PRESENTATION OF THE MANUSCRIPT

The manuscript must be double-spaced, with a minimum margin of 2 cm to the left, on the front only of A4-size sheets (210 x 297 mm).  The total length of the manuscript should not exceed 3500 words excluding the abstract and the bibliography. The abstract must not exceed 300 words The manuscript is written in French or in English.

The text includes, in order: the title, the summary with the keywords in alphabetical order;  the text itself; the bibliographical references; tables with title and legend; the figures; the legends of the figures, and their numero as referenced in the main text.

Title page

The title page, or first page, contains the following information:

    the title; concise, it indicates precisely the subject of the work and does not include abbreviations; the editor reserves the right to modify it in a concise manner;
    the title should not exceed 100 characters including spaces.
    the full names and addresses of the departments, laboratories, or organizations of origin of the authors; specify the telephone and fax numbers, as well as the author's e-mail address and ORCIDid-
    where applicable, the date and place of the meeting at which the work was presented.

The editor will temporarily remove the names and affiliations of the authors when sending the paper to the reviewers.

As the peer review process is double-blind, authors should take care not to include any identifying marks or text in the main text and title. Before saving the article, you should also make sure that Word does not identify you by default: every time you create a new document, Word sets the author property, based on the username setting in the Word Options (or preferences) dialogue box. Remember to remove your name from the File/Properties menu before sending your document

Summary and keywords

On the second page, each article contains a summary in French and in English without abbreviation or reference, with at most six keywords also in French and English. Abstracts are approximately 250 words maximum (approximately 10 to 15 lines).

The keywords, relevant and descriptors, must allow the indexing of the article, and preferably conform to the list of the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) Index Medicus. They appear below the abstracts. You can help by searching Mesh words at https://meshb.nlm.nih.gov/MeSHonDemand  : in this website page you have the possibility to copy and paste the English summary; after a few seconds, the server will propose some suggestions of keywords If you agree use them and put their translation below the french version of the summary.

Abbreviations used in the text must be defined when first used. Only common abbreviations are accepted, in reduced numbers. The entire term must precede the abbreviation in parentheses, when it first appears in the text and in the abstract unless it is an international unit of measure.

The use of abbreviations is prohibited in the title and, if possible, avoided in the summaries.

Nomenclature, numbers, and symbols. The nomenclature must be consistent and invariable. Symbols and scientific units must be expressed in the international system of units (SI system). The numbers are written in numbers.

Drugs and appliances. Medicines are identified by their generic name (international non-proprietary name), without capital letters. The specialty name may be mentioned in parentheses with initial capitalization, followed by the initials ® and the name of the pharmaceutical firm if the drug is little known. The trade name of a device bears the acronym ™ and, in parentheses, the name of the manufacturer or distributor.

Latin phrases. The Latin phrases used in French are written in Latin (et al., A priori, a contrario ...). The Latin taxonomic names of microorganisms are written in italics, the genus name with an initial capital letter, and the species name with a tiny (Staphylococcus aureus). From the second appearance in the text, the genus name can be abbreviated (S. aureus).

Bibliography

The references appear on separate pages (s) and are numbered (s). The references are numbered according to the order of appearance in the text. They are identified in the text, tables, and legends by bracketed Arabic numerals. References cited only in legends, tables, or figures are numbered in such a way that they replace the last reference cited in the text before the table is invoked. The numbers are separated by commas when it comes to two consecutive digits or not, and by a hyphen when there are more than two consecutive digits; only extreme numbers are then cited: [5, 7], [9-11], [5, 7, 9-11, 13]. The article only includes references to texts that have been consulted for the drafting of the work. The cited references must be accessible to readers. All references cited in the text appear in the list of references and vice versa.

It is suggested that authors include in their bibliography the articles published in the Bulletin de la Dialysis à Domicile, previously, if they relate to the subject treated and are useful, but this is not required. Authors should also avoid self-quoting, except if useful for the discussion of the text.

TABLES AND FIGURES

Tables and figures should be included in the text in their place. A separate original set of excellent quality must be provided.

Tables

Each table is typed double-spaced on one page; it includes, at the top, the number with which it is called in the text  (in Roman numerals) and the title; at the bottom, any explanatory notes (abbreviations, acronyms). Units are provided at the head of a row or column. The tables do not duplicate the figures.

Important: The tables must be in  text format: tables in image format, such as screen copy, jpeg, png, etc, are not accepted

figures

 They are numbered in Arabic numerals. Figures borrowed from another work may be reproduced only with the written consent of their author (s) and the publisher.

A figure and its legend form a whole that must be understood without the need to refer to the text.

Authors must provide original high-quality figures in png or jpeg format. If possible an original Excl form must be provided.

The figures must fit on a single column preferably (1063 pixels with a definition of 300 PPI): if a figure is too large for the journal it will be reduced by the editor, but care must be taken that the texts on the original image are sufficiently great for supporting the downsizing. Text included in the figure must be in times font, never smaller than size 12 and preferably 14 or 16 to support any reduction in size during page layout.

 Disclaimers

The journal applies international conflict of interest rules for all publications submitted. Any submission of the manuscript must be accompanied by a declaration of interest.

A conflict of interest exists when an author and/or co-author has financial or personal relationships with other individuals or organizations that may influence his / her professional judgments about an essential value (patient well, research integrity) ...). The main types of conflict of interest are financial interests, participation in clinical trials, punctual interventions, and family relations.

All authors of the publication must declare all relationships that may be considered to have the potential for conflict of interest in relation to the published text.

 In the event that there is no conflict of interest in relation to the article submitted, the following must be added: no conflict of interest for this article.

In the event that there is one or more conflicts of interest with one or more of the authors of the article, the complete list of them must be mentioned at the end of the manuscript.

When the manuscript is accepted, download the disclosure form by clicking on  ICMJE DISCLOSURE FORM , reply to all question, indicate your email and send it to the secretary. Each author must fill out this form. If it is not possible to contact a co-author, we ask the main author to send us the form signed by the co-author. If this cannot be obtained, we inform the main author that the name of this co-author cannot be maintained.
